Trauma-Informed Harm Reduction Certification Course

Solo Lesson 1: Rebound & Recovery: Opioid Prevention and Well-Being for Teens

Designed to incorporate the main topics of Rebound & Recovery: Opioid Prevention and Well-Being Certification for Teens for those with less time. By the end of the one lesson, group members will be able to understand what opioids are, identify what opioid misuse is, and how it affects an individual’s emotions, thoughts, actions, and brain. Members of the group will also explore the connection between stress and its impact on thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and learn how to identify stressors in their lives, along with recognizing how their well-being is impacted.

Rebound & Recovery: Opioid Prevention and Well-Being Certification for Teens

This evidence-informed certification aims to bolster the resilience of middle and high-school-aged youth by building protective factors and equipping them with cognitive-behavioral skills to manage their emotions, thoughts, and actions effectively. Simultaneously, it empowers them to adopt healthier lifestyle habits and provides education on opioids, their misuse, and their impact on thoughts, emotions, and the brain. The curriculum also teaches youth peer-to-peer support preparing them to provide support for their peers, as well as better cope with stress and mental health challenges themselves. The program includes a total of 7 lessons.

ROTA-RC Trauma-Informed Harm Reduction Certification Course

This self-paced training focuses on the core concepts of trauma-informed harm reduction as an approach that emphasizes engaging directly with people who use drugs to prevent overdose and infectious disease transmission, improve the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of those served, and offer low-threshold options for accessing substance use disorder treatment and other health care services.

Learn How to Respond to an Overdose: Naloxone (Narcan) Training

In this online course, you will learn the signs, symptoms, and risk factors for opioid overdose and how to administer Naloxone, also known as Narcan. This course is free and provided by the Southeast Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Center and funded by SAMHSA. Please make sure to complete the survey at the end of the course.
